Cinnamon is tasty, so that in and of itself is enough to eat it right? Well Cinnamon is also chalk full of manganese, which helps with bone formation, metabolism of energy from nutrients and decreases free radicals in the body. It is also said to increase HDL (good) cholesterol as well as decrease LDL (bad) cholesterol and triglycerides. It can also ward off a urinary tract infection. It is also helpful in reducing blood sugar levels in those with type 2 diabetes.
Tip: What we normally buy in the store is cassia. Look for ceylon cinnamon sticks that have multiple layers and grind them yourself or pick up Frontier Organic brand ceylon. Both types will help with blood clotting, but the ceylon is more potent for the reasons listed above. Enjoy!!
