In our most recent NBC news appearance, Melissa reveals a metabolic sabotaging secret and a HUGE announcement. Read on for the video, written tips, and the announcement.
The average American consumes 158 pounds of sugar a year. Sugar consumption is linked to obesity, diabetes, and cancer- yes cancer. It’s so addictive that if it were a new substance, it may not be made legal because its chemical makeup is so similar to cocaine.
We know soda is loaded with sugar. Roughly 1 tsp per ounce to be more precise.
But did you know that 2 slices of whole wheat bread can be the equivalent of a candy bar on your blood sugar? Or that morning single serving strawberry yogurt may have 6 teaspoons or more of sugar. One serving of jarred pasta sauce can have over a tablespoon of sugar. Yikes!
Tip: 1tsp of sugar = 4g sugar, so please be a detective and read your labels.
And just because it’s sugar-free doesn’t make it safe! Sugar-free = artificial sweeteners, which are linked to increased appetite, increased sweet cravings, headaches, and thyroid issues.
Naturally sweetened often means they’ve sweetened with Splenda, which is in no way natural. Splenda is made by treating sugar with chlorine so the body won’t absorb it and is in NO way natural. You wouldn’t drink pool water, so watch for it in your food!
PS – Don’t forget to watch the video for the BIG announcement. Hint: it’s FREE and for YOU!!
