Summer calls for fun, sun, and snacks. One of my family’s favorites has always been chips and salsa, but as the healthy guy or gal I know you are, the chips are kinda shady, right? It seems there’s always at least one ingredient I know is not healthy. That said, this week #RNL is bringing you healthy homemade tortilla chips. Yum! Continue reading “Healthy Homemade Tortilla Chips”

Sometimes, chocolate is just necessary. And as the healthy guy or gal you are, you know we love chocolate (cacao) at RNL. First domesticated by the Mayans over 2,000 years ago, the word cacao means “Food of the Gods,” and surely the “Food of the Gods” comes with zero guilt, just like this Chocolate Superfood Smoothie recipe, which is the perfect afternoon pick me up. It started a couple of weeks ago. The holidays were over, but I still wanted some comfort food. It seems to me my Dad made the best sloppy joes as a kid. This could become a family debate, as my Grandmother still makes a mean joe in which she adds gumbo soup to the mix, but that’s another post 😉 And I don’t know about you, but I find ground turkey a bit boring (and sometimes dry) so I wanted to remedy that with my childhood food fix in a healthy way. Here’s what I came up with. I hope you love it!! Continue reading “Turkey Joes to Brighten Your Winter Mood”
I love brownies. But I don’t always love gluten-free brownies. That said, my family and friends taste-tested a lot of brownies until we got this one right. Below is the winner.
We love this recipe because it’s protein-rich with healthy fats, so they make a nice snack, not just sugar-laden dessert. The raw cacao also gives that perfect rich chocolatey flavor necessary for the perfect brownie. Enjoy these tasty gluten-free brownies. Continue reading “The End of Bad Gluten-Free Brownies”
Are supplements necessary? That’s a great question, and while it’s preferred to get nutrients from food, it would likely be cumbersome, expensive, and potentially impossible to do without extensive knowledge. With so many on the market, it can be tough to sort through the madness and know which are the most important. Continue reading “Nutritional Supplements 101”
So here’s the thing… I’m really not your typical potato eater, but there comes this time each summer when my CSA box is crammed full of fresh organic potatoes. I’m not one to waste and they taste SO good.
This recipe is just in time for the holiday. It’s easy to make, delicious, and you’ll be giving Aunt Millie a run for her money when you bring this recipe to the family BBQ! No more cold mayonnaise-laden potato salad for you, my friend.
