Do you ever have trouble winding down before bed?  I firmly believe in a bedtime routine to help ensure adequate rest (and healing for our ill clients.) This is one thing that has helped myself and many of my clients unwind before bed so we get the rest we need. Oh and it tastes pretty darn good to- dessert in a cup anyone? 

This drink is the perfect sweet treat after dinner to aid inner calm and sleep. The nutmeg is a natural sedative and warmed milk contains tryptophan which helps to make melatonin- the sleep hormone. It has a festive feel and is perfect for the holiday season (or anytime!)

How to make it:

Put 1 glass of organic almond milk (or milk of choice) into stainless steel pot on the stove and boil to steam on medium heat.

Once heated add the following: 1-2 pinches nutmeg ( natural sedative), 1 tsp cinnamon (like this one for blood sugar balance), 1/2 tsp Cardoman spice, 2 fresh dates ( pitted), 1/4 cup almonds, 1 tbsp coconut oil, pinch of sea salt, tbsp maca powder + tbsp cacao ( you can leave this out if it’s too stimulating for you at night) !

Add this warm mixture to your high power blender! Blend away! Pour into cup! Drink with a spoon calmly and mindfully.
