Friends, I’m so excited about this one. RNL has a new beauty blogger on board and we could not be more excited. Her name is Lara and this is her first post. It’s a fabulous (and easy) DIY beauty recipe you’ll love.

It’s that time of year again and we all know what that means. Dry, flaky, and chapped lips. Just like our skin and hair, our lips need a little extra TLC sometimes- especially during these drying winter months. There are many lip scrubs and exfoliants out there (believe me I’ve tried them all) but the one thing they all have in common is their price. They’re not cheap. And like so many other pricey skin care and makeup products they are full of ingredients that  just aren’t good for us. But I’ve got good news- a simple recipe for a DIY scrub that is made with ingredients that most of us already have in our kitchen cabinets.

sugar scrub

What you’ll need

2 tsp Organic Brown Sugar (coconut sugar works too, if that’s what you’ve got laying around)
1/2 tsp Agave Nectar
1 tsp Coconut Oil
1/4 tsp Vanilla (optional)
Small mixing bowl
Small container/jar (travel section of your local grocery store has little containers that are the perfect size)

How to:

Step one
Using your mixing bowl combine agave nectar and coconut oil. This combination is super moisturizing for parched lips.

Step two
Lightly incorporate the brown sugar
The sugar will act as a gentle exfoliant, removing dry skin and relieving chapped lips.

Step Three
For a yummy fragrance that smells almost good enough to eat, add vanilla. Using a spoon, mix ingredients until combined.

Step four
Spoon mixture into small container to store.

How to use:
Gently rub on lips for 10 seconds. Rinse and apply your favorite all natural lip balm! (we love this one)

  1. Sounds yummy! I just use some toothpaste on my toothbrush (usually Kiss My Face, or Tom’s Of Maine), give my lips a little scrub, and they’re smooth and comfy!

    1. Thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts Steeny Lou! Great feedback and your toothbrush with a bit of toothpaste idea is one I will try. In a pinch, Ill also grab my toothbrush and add a dollop of whatever natural body scrub I have on hand and voila! Smooth lips!
