Everyone knows that this time of the year is full of sugar, spice and everything nice, sprinkled with the sniffles or cold and flu. This time of the year it’s likely anyone reading this knows someone who is sick or has already come down with a cold themselves. Here’s where my favorite fun immunity booster, Kung Fu Tonic, comes in.
What’s Kung Fu Tonic you ask?
It’s a certified organic highly-concentrated blend of hot roots and powerful herbs. It comes in liquid form and you can add a few droppers full of the tonic to anything your heart desires.
A few of our favorite cold busting Kung Fu Tonic ingredients include:
Heirloom Garlic:
Helps your liver activate enzymes that can flush out toxins. It also has a high amount of allicin which is a natural antibacterial. And selenium, which is a crucial nutrient for white blood cells, which is critical for a healthy immune response.
Garlic is also a natural source of B-vitamins, vitamin C, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, and zinc. All of these nutrients are necessary to slash inflammation and kick (may we suggest kung fu style?) any cold or flu to the curb.
Horseradish:
Glucosinolates, compounds in the roots and leaves of the horseradish plant, can increase your liver’s ability to detoxify carcinogens and may suppress the growth of existing tumors, says a study in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry. Horseradish is one of nature’s best sources of glucosinolates — it has up to 10 times more than broccoli, the next-best source.
This white root is an awesome mucus buster so it’ll clear those stuffed up sinuses. It also shows strong antibacterial function and inhibits the growth of certain bacteria where penicillin could not. (#foodasmedicine 🙂 )
Cayenne:
Cayenne’s claim to fame is that it promotes circulation and boosts metabolism as well as offering relief from menstrual cramps and fibroid tumors when consumed internally. It also boasts Anti-Irritant Properties. Cayenne has the ability to ease an upset stomach, ulcers, sore throats, spasmodic and irritating coughs, and diarrhea. It also quells cold and flu by breaking up and moving congested mucus. Cayenne also has anti-bacterial and even potential anti-cancer properties as well.
The tonic also has many other foods as medicine immune boosting foods such as ginger, apple cider vinegar, oregano oil and more.
