At RNL we love superfoods, especially Maca root. This is one of my favorite afternoon snacks when I need a lift. I think you’ll love this mood balancing maca smoothie recipe too!
Maca is a delicious Peruvian (or Bolivian) root. The maca root was prized throughout the Incan empire for its adaptogenic-like qualities that enable it to nourish and balance the body’s delicate endocrine system, and to help cope with stress. It also energizes naturally, without the jitters and crashes of caffeine, and it can aid in reproductive function, helping to balance hormones and increase fertility. Unique alkaloids found in maca, called Macainas, have been shown to nourish and support the endocrine system. Maca Powder is loaded with nutritious vitamins, minerals, amino acids and plant sterols, including vitamins B1, B2, B, C, D, E, iron, potassium, copper, magnesium, selenium, phosphorous and calcium. It’s a fiber-rich food and a good source of plant protein (about ten percent). Maca root is also a source of fatty acids. That said, eat up friends!!
Mood Balancing Maca Smoothie Recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup dairy free milk
1/2 cup cashews (soaked at least one hour)
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp maca powder
2 T Collagen
dash of nutmeg
Blend and enjoy!
